Did any of you catch the premiere of HBO's Westworld?
I didn't know much about it and within the first few minutes I was recognizing something VERY FAMILIAR. Last November I attended a conference in Denver. I flew out a few days earlier, just to give me enough time to land in Colorado .. go straight to the car rental kiosk at the airport, pick up my car and head straight to Moab, Utah. Denver in November didn't sound too appealing so I wanted to cast my eyes on some red rock for the first time. I spent 2.5 days in the Moab and completely fell in love.
When I had to make my way back to Denver on that Sunday morning, I gave myself enough time to take a more scenic route. A consultant for my company, who works in Denver, told me about UT-128. The last time he was in Ottawa he told me 'You have to drive it'. So I did.
UT-128 splits out of Moab, north east out of town. It snakes along the Colorado River for just under 60 miles. There's a lodge, a farm, a road that leads to Castle Valley, some campgrounds and not much else. It's spectacular.
So I was so pleased to see that the crew of this new show have chosen to film the exterior scenery in my 'happy place'. I started looking up the filming locations and sure enough .. not only did they film in the Moab area but they also saw the beauty surrounding UT-128, as written in Outside Magazine's online site.
Ryan and I have talked about riding out bikes out there. Between Arches National Park, Canyonlands and the surrounding area - it's worthy of a return trip.
